Mehari Brothers a band with a fascinating story to tell…..

Born and raised by a singer father and a dancer mother the four brothers Henock, Robel, Lwam and Halal followed in the foot steps of their late father Mehari Abrha (singer and saxophonist) and their mother a former dancer now in the Audio Visual Media business.

 

 

 

 

 

Currently one of the most popular bands in town, Mehari Brothers band members were is from the mystic land of the cradle of humanity.

Mehari Brothers is musical phenomenon, with music that defy borders and a performance that speaks to people in all walks of life and nations.  The band has always followed a solitary and distinctive path with a group of educated as well as talented musicians gifted with a perfect pitch.

 

 

 

 

 

The union of these brothers and them performing together was the life long dream of their late father.

The eldest of the four, Henock was keyboard player and a singer in the well known bands in Ethiopia like Express Band, Afro sound, Zion Band…  He was also a fore-contributor in the production of the albums of famous and upcoming singers like:-

Tsedenia G\Markos, Wendimu Jira, Meskerem Birhanu, Zeritu Kebede…

Henock made his debut with his “Iwnetegna Fikir” (True love) Album of which he was the composer and demo arranger.   A 2000 graduate of Yared Music School with great distinction and piano major, Henock also produced songs for more than 30 singles.  He’s currently the manager of Mehari Brothers Band and a keyboard player as well as the lead vocalist of the band.

Robel is also a graduate of Yared Music School with a major in clarinet and also plays the guitar.  He’s a former member of Abissinia Band and also other local and foreign bands. Robel has already participated in the huge production of our time, the Abinet Agonafir’s “Wuleta” (Favour). He has made a great deal of effort in this project. He put his unique guitar touch in few outstanding songs and produced the song ” lije ” ( My Child) in Abinet’s Album.

Lwam is one of the famous figures among the young musicians in town.  He’s a former member of the Sweet Band as a bass guitarist and thus had the opportunity to work with most famous singers of Ethiopia.

Halal is the youngest of all, grew up listening to his brother and was nourished with ample support.  He’s now a promising drummer, playing percussion and drums.

The Mehari Brothers band has also other members; Tesfamariam Elias keyboard player (friend and supporter), Ayalneh Kassahun drummer, Zerubabel upcoming musician (good with guitar and fond of jazz music and currently working on his debut Album) the touch of perfection to the band was the addition of Nhatty and Betty.  Nhatty (Natniel Ayalew) former Express Band and Sweet band member also performed in many Gulf countries.  Nhatty was fit hear featuring with Netsanet Melesse’s “Furtuna”(Luck), Henock Abebe’s “Chiferaw Dera”(the dance is steaming) and Tsedenia G/Markos’s “Yikir Belalehu”(I forgive you) among others.  Nhatty’s “Amrogn” (Craving) was a smashing hit among Ethiopian music fans.
Last but most importantly Betty is the young, talented singer with a unique dynamism.  She sings in many different languages making the music flow beyond time and space.

The Mehari Brothers are currently working on their upcoming albums. Betty and Nhatty on their debut album and Henock on his second album.

In the midst of all this the Mehari brothers have established their own multi-digital studio-“Arada Studio”.  The band had a two month national wide tour with Zeritu Kebede’s 12 cross country performances.  The Mehari Brothers band also performed in Djibouti on October 2006 with Singer Jhonny Ragga and another tour later on in Djibouti for a crowd of 9,000 people.
